Look - a chalkboard! Oh goodie - how old school. |
Here are the after shots -
My Mona Wall |
Above each table is an artist with their work. I refer to the tables as the color or artist. |
My Data Center - more things will be added like the art room mission statement |
A close-up of my behavior incentives & Smart Goal |
This shelving unit was just screaming for lots of art stuff! |
The sign in the middle says: The "EARTH" without "ART" is just "EH" |
Word Wall, drying rack, and I'm Done...Now what? |
This will be a spot for students to find things to do if they finish early. |
I hung felt up for word wall. The words are laminated and have velcro on back making it easy to put up and down. |
Added a bit of color and art element posters to front of room. |
Looks great! How long did all this take you?
ReplyDeleteIt took about 2 weeks to really get it all together.
ReplyDeleteI really like the "I'm done- what do I do now" spot- great idea!
ReplyDeleteHello- Thank you for the wonderful ideas. I think I saw an art lesson on your site once that involved creating a portrait and exploring line with 'crazy' hair. Perhaps it was elsewhere? In any case I've lost it! Can you help? Thanks, Katrina : )
ReplyDeleteKatrina - Here's some I did a couple years ago -http://www.artsonia.com/museum/gallery.asp?exhibit=222182 I have the students start with a U shape for the head (female) then add sections of lines to create a crazy hair do that fills the paper. Turn the U shape around and do a man with a beard.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps!
I love the artists hanging from the ceiling, but I have no idea where to find cheap prints to cut up. I would love to do this rather than some other cheap'y ideas I have. Any idea? Where did you get yours?
ReplyDeleteI just used images from Google - found what I wanted and saved the largest file for best quality - then printed multiple images on a page. You could use small calendar pictures or post card sized images. I liked doing my own so that I could print them the sizes I needed. I have them all saved in files and would gladly share them with you if you have a way to print them. If so let me know an email address and I will send them your way! I may have to convert the files to a jpeg or pdf for you - but that's no problem.
DeleteCan I have some digital copies of those images as well? I call my tables by colors/artists that hang from the ceiling too but without pictures - I'd love to use those images...
DeleteMaggi do you use Dropbox? If so I can put them into a folder for you and share it.
DeleteI love your images as well! Which artists did you use?
DeleteHello! Thanks a lot for sharing :-) I've just hung my firt mobile, inspired by yours: it's such a great idea!!! I'm going to do some more about the painters we are to study and it's really pleasant.

DeleteThank you for your kind answer and hopping on my blog ! I've just started it, it's a pleasure to discover your pages !
DeleteHi Theresa-I've just stumbled across your blog and am working on decorating my art classroom. Do you still have the files saved that you used to create your beautiful artist mobiles? If so, would you mind sharing? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Theresa-Can you provide the photos you used to create your artist mobiles? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Jennifer, they are on my school computer so it will take me a while to get them. I need to load them on Google Drive so I have access to them. It's a super busy time right now trying to get three art rooms ready (2 of which are new schools for me) so it may take a bit, but I'm willing to share.
DeleteHi Theresa,
ReplyDeleteWould you share your images for the table artists?

I love your boards you have set up for art stars and I'm Done, etc. I have been K-5 teaching art about 5 yrs now. I LOVE your artist mobiles too. I would love a copy of any/all artists pics if possible in a pdf file or whatever might work best. I know I can always open pdf files. Also, my huge question for experienced art teachers is what artists to make sure you teacher at each grare level??...saying there are so many and not enough time to hit them all. Plus, I have so many favorites, but do I choose the best/most important. Any suggestions there? My district email is ejones@avr2.org
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches!!! Ellie :)
